This article try to identify the meaning of school autonomy in two different moments of the Brazilian education history, characterized by the relevance given to public education in the government agenda: the times of “Manifesto dos Pioneiros” and the other, in the nineties, related to the new education reforms. To accomplish this objective, the article reflects about the meaning of school autonomy given by educational leaders in both periods.Downloads
