Sports Advisories in Public Areas of the City of Rio de Janeiro: Socioeconomic Profile of Managers and Entrepreneurial Opportunities

The occupation of public spaces by sports activities and physical exercise in an oriented way is a little studied activity, especially in the aspects of professional intervention and economic opportunity. This research is exploratory and descriptive in nature and its objective is to map the sports advisory services in the public areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro in two main axes: a) socioeconomic profile of the sports advisory manager; b) business opportunities contained in these advisory services. The data treatment was descriptive statistics. The socioeconomic profile of the manager of the sports advisory services that operates in public areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro studied in our research is man, with more than 30 years and training time of more than 10 years. He studied mostly in a private university. Only about one-third held a postgraduate course. In relation to the business developed this gives during five days of the week, preferably in the night shift, being the race the main physical activity taught in these public spaces. In conclusion, we point out the need to understand this economic activity from the point of view of entrepreneurship, professional training, income generation and sports employment in public areas of Brazilian cities.
