Deployment of Goals and Project Performance Management Case Study in the Engineering Department of Petrobras

The dynamic technology innovations and the constant changes in the world geopolitical scenarioshave been creating turbulences in the majority of the environments in which the petroleum industryorganizations are situated. Therefore, it is vital for the development and survival of theseorganizations that they establish a management and planning process capable of offering flexibleanswers to all challenges that arise in this business. Inside this context, this paper intends toinvestigate the ongoing techniques used for the deployment of goals and performance managementof the employees who work for the engineering department of Petrobras, comparing the behavior offour organization structures named UIE - Unidade de Implementação de Empreendimento,considering some of their scores and the results of the existing individual management body of eachof these structures. The main research instruments used in this case study were the documentalanalyses and semi-structured interviews with the main authors of the formulation andimplementation process for the planning and management of the company, beyond the directobservation of these process. The paper accomplishes its goals and brings results and proposals thatperceive a continuous development of the Performance Management system in the engineeringdepartment of Petrobras.References
