Environmental Initiatives and Practices of Smes in the Caí Valley, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul

The need to use in a appropriate and sustainable manner the natural resources of the environment must be increasingly present in the everyday life of the people, the government and businesses.Thus, this study aims to analyze the environmental initiatives and practices adopted by a group of companies from the Caí Valley, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. To achieve the objective, a survey was conducted with a questionnaire based on the report “Ethos Indicators for Sustainable and Responsible Business” (Ethos, 2013). The results indicate that the majority of companies surveyed is concerned with issues related to the environment, such as the generation and disposal of waste pollutants, and reduction in power consumption. Furthermore, we highlight the fact that only a small portion of the companies surveyed cares about the reduction in water consumption.Downloads
