In this work, it is introduced a new wavelet-based algorithm for Algebraic Multigrid Method (WAMG) using a variation of the standard implementation of discrete wavelet transforms. This new approach eliminates the grid coarsening process in traditional AMG setup phase simplifying its implementation on distributed memory machines. The WAMG method is used as a “black box” solver in some numerical problems concerning the two dimensional Poisson equation. The numerical results compare the efficiency of the new approach with some of the most advanced and current AMG algorithms.Downloads
