Abstract

In this study, the objective was to quantify the daily manipulations that the PTNBs are submitted in an intensive care unit (NICU) and based on these data to implant a protocol of minimum intervention. The method was based on a descriptive and quantitative field research. For the data collection we used forms, having criterion for premature newborns in the NICU of an Infantile Public Hospital of the City of São Paulo. The data were collected in 6 hours, during seventeen consecutive days. In one day occurs 45, 42 manipulations, in the total of 5h 41min and 24s, remaining for rest 18min and 36s. It was considered that the PTNBs are often manipulated, without time for their rest.
