Abstract

Introduction. The Stroke follows with motor and functional loss and the access to rehabilitation treatment can promote gains related to functionality and disability. Objective. To analyze neurological severity and functional repercussions from individuals after stroke by the type of rehabilitation access they have had. Method. We carried out systematic searches in electronic databases: SciELO, LILACS, and PUBMED, from July to August 2014. The articles were selected independently and blindly by two researchers. Results. Of the 708 articles identified, only fifteen met the inclusion criteria and were selected for full text review. Studies point to a majority of individuals that after stroke have presented from moderate to severe functional commitment, generating impacts to execution of daily activities, as well as overload of rehabilitation services. Conclusion. The severity and limitations of stroke present direct relation with the need of using rehabilitation services.
