Outsourcing in the Receipt of Materials from a Distribution Center at a Supermarket Company in the State of São Paulo

Business competition is great in the various market sectors and globalization means that distribution systems in Brazil must be increasingly efficiently prepared. The Distribution Centers must be more effective in order to obtain advantages in the administration and distribution of the products. The objective of this study is to analyze the receipt process and propose the implementation of the "Penta Logistics System", to reduce inefficiencies in a Distribution Center of the retail supermarket segment. Information and data were collected through reports made available by the company and visited on site to perform a data analysis of the current situation and, finally, to propose improvements and the implementation of the Penta Logistics System in the unloading of cargo in the area of receiving materials from the Center of distribution. Through the implementation of the Penta Logistics System there was an improvement in the time of unloading of the trucks, reduction of costs for the Distribution Center and quality in the services provided. The contributions are qualitative and quantitative, since in the receiving area as well as in the inventory area the changes generate time gain, increase of the responsibility and level of service of the system generating better results of attendance and increase of performance.
