Adoption of Good Practices in Project Management: Study in Brazilian Companies

Abstract

The objective of this article is to evaluate if there is evidence of the adoption of concepts and practices in project management considered to be cutting edge and relevant to success in IS projects, from a sample of national reference companies in their market niches. In order to assess this result, the study is based on a research of an applied nature, based on a qualitative approach, using, firstly, as a methodological procedure, a bibliographic survey on the subject, with the objective of identifying a set of good practices related to project management, called analysis categories. Next, senior professionals from the information systems project management area were interviewed to contribute with the research data. The data collected allow us to verify that, among the organizations evaluated, there is evidence of a wide adoption of a set of good practices in management, suggesting that the theme already has a certain maturity and consolidation in larger companies, but there is room for greater consolidation of these practices.
