THE PROFILE OF SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION ON ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract

In order to contribute to the decrease and control of the destruction of nature, the environmental mobilizations appeared with the preservationists and the conservationists that conceived the environmental organizations. These are important to the emergence and practice of strategies intented on easing environment degradation. There is a lack of research about these types of environmental organizations; therefore, there is a necessity of analyzing the characteristics of publications related to the discussions about these institutions. The methodology undertaken in this article consisted of analyzing scientific production with a mixed approach. The study had as a reference source the articles available at the Periódico Capes database. The study was carried out from the search of the following expressions in Portuguese and in English, in both plural and singular forms: “Organizações Ambientais”; “Organização Ambiental” “Organizações Ambientalistas”, “Organização Ambientalista”, “Environmental Organization” and “Environmental Organizations”, which yielded a mass of 1,304 articles and a sample of 40, suitable to be analyzed. The results of this study enable the perception of what are environmental organizations and also an understanding of their various concepts, their characteristics and their state of the art. These production indicators can contribute to improve the technological and innovation factors and the proposals of academic discussions on this subject.
