Congested traffic in large cities has a significant impact on people's lives in terms of health, time and productivity.
It is necessary to increase the use of mass transit in order to reduce the level of traffic, but some elements have discouraged its use.
A case study with documental and quantitative research was carried out to analyze the performance of a bus line in São Paulo city through theory of constraint to identify and propose solutions to possible bottlenecks that impede the increased passenger flow.
The proposed solutions were aimed at reducing customer service complaints.
The results indicated significant potential of increase in the passenger’s flow with the proposal of improvement based on the theory of constrain.
