Internal determinants of the operationalization of inclusive education: a descriptive study in a public and a private school

The implementation of an inclusive education as intended in the educational policy laws since 1996 still faces difficulties. In this research the implementation of inclusive education has been studied from the point of view of involved parties. After reviewing scientific literature and analyzing legislative documents, a field study, researching a public as well as a private school in Salvador da Bahia, has been conducted in order to describe the possibilities and limits of this implementation process. The collected data was categorized according to internal school conditions. The results show that the schools lack sufficient accessibility for students with disabilities, reveal complaints about insufficient level of knowledge regarding inclusive education of the teachers and an insufficient transparency of institutional communicationDownloads
