Training of the pedagogue and school management: an exploratory study

Abstract

This research aims to understand what elements present in the initial formation of the pedagogue that can contribute to the performance of this professional in the school direc-tion. To this end, we seek to analyze the National Curricular Guidelines for the Pedagogy Course (DCNP) with regard to the disciplines directed to the formation of the school di-rector, especially with regard to the management of people and listen to the opinion of trained professionals who, Today, work in basic schools in relation to the contributions or not made possible by said course. To answer the proposed question we highlight as objec-tives the identification of the disciplines present in the DCNP linked to the training of the school director and to understand the challenges that these professionals experience in the daily life of their professional practice in a democratic perspective. Because it is an explora-tory research linked to the activities of scientific initiation, we opted for a methodology of a qualitative nature that has as a foundation the bibliographic and documentary survey asso-ciated to semistructured interviews conducted with three school principals in the city of São Paulo. Research has shown that the breadth of Purposes of the Pedagogy course and the reduced amount of the subjects directed to the professional training of the school adminis-trator contribute very little to the performance of these educators in the conduct of their craft.
