Resumo

O ambiente de startups é caracterizado por incertezas e assimetria de informações. Ao mesmo tempo, essas empresas nascentes necessitam de financiamentos para que possam crescer e escalar seus modelos de negócios. Assim, sinais de qualidade, como é o caso das patentes, afetam a capacidade de uma startup para atrair financiamento de venture capital (capital de risco). Neste contexto, o entendimento de como esse sinal (patente) e outros relacionados a ele são avaliados e considerados para decisão pelos investidores de venture capital (VC) pode se tornar importante para que os empreendedores planejem suas ações. Patentes vão além de sinalizar a qualidade tecnológica de uma startup e o objetivo deste artigo é investigar a relação entre a detenção de patentes das startups e o alcance de investimentos de venture capital. Realizando uma revisão sistemática da literatura, pudemos sistematizar descobertas de outros trabalhos quanto aos sinais de qualidade que afetam direta ou indiretamente a tomada de decisão dos capitalistas de risco, como é o caso das patentes e de outros sinais relacionados, como marca registrada e protótipos.
